How to Fix the “Outside of Active Rating Period” Error Message
If you’re seeing the “Outside of Active Rating Period” error message when trying to submit a note, it typically means the note’s date doesn’t fall within the currently active assessment period. Here are two common reasons for this error and how to fix them:
Scenario 1: The Note Is Dated Outside the Active Period
If the note’s date is outside the current active period, you can fix this by changing the note’s date to fall within the correct assessment period. You can either:
- Change the note’s date to a date within the current active period, or
- Change the note’s date to a date that belongs to a different period you want it to be counted in.

Scenario 2: The Active Rating Period Is Incorrect
If the error appears because the child’s active period is incorrect (e.g., wrong dates or a different period should be active), you will need to:
- Switch to the correct active rating period, or
- Update the rating period dates to reflect the appropriate timeframe.

Once the note’s date and the active rating period are aligned correctly, the error should no longer appear.
