How to create a Portfolio Observation Note

Creating a Portfolio Observation Note is simple! Since Learning Genie is a cross-platform application available on the web as well as mobile devices (tablets and phones), you have the ability to create an observation anywhere! Follow these easy steps!

On the Learning Genie Educator App (iPad): 

1. Tap on the "Portfolio" yellow tab.

 

2. Tap the orange "Plus" sign on the top-right corner.


3. Fill in the necessary information. There are three basic requirements to post an Observation Note:

- Text (Description).

- Tags (Measures).

- Children (You can make individual or group Observation Notes).

* You can also attach a photo, video, or voice recording.


4. Locate and tap the checkmark in the top-right corner to publish your Observation Note!


You should now be able to see your Observation Note posted on your child's Portfolio.


On the Learning Genie Educator App (smartphones):

1. Tap on the "Portfolio" yellow tab.

 

2. Tap the orange "Plus" sign on the top-right corner.


3. Fill in the necessary information. There are three basic requirements to post an Observation Note:

- Text (Description).

- Tags (Measures).

- Children (You can make individual or group Observation Notes).

* You can also attach a photo, video, or voice recording.

 

4. Locate and tap the checkmark in the top-right corner to publish your Observation Note!

You should now be able to see your Observation Note posted on your child's Portfolio.


On the Learning Genie Web Portal:

1. Click on a classroom and verify that the Portfolio tab is highlighted in blue.

Or you can select "Portfolio" > "Add Observations" from the sidebar, and then select a classroom to proceed.

 

2. Click the orange +Add button in the top-right corner.

 

3. Fill in the necessary information. There are three basic requirements to post an Observation Note:

  • Text (Description).
  • Tags (Measures).
  • Children (You can make individual or group Observation Notes).

* You can also attach a photo, video, or document such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, or PDF.

 

4. Click on the "Save" button to publish the Observation Note!


You should now be able to see your Observation Note posted on your child's Portfolio.
