Enabling Staff-to-Staff Chat: A Guide for Agency Admins
Direct staff-to-staff chat is a helpful way for teachers and administrators to collaborate and communicate quickly. By enabling this feature, staff members connected to the same child can easily send messages without needing to go through families or other channels.
Step 1: Enable Staff Direct Chat
Only Agency Owners or Agency Admins can enable staff direct chat, and this must be done from the web portal.

Log in to the web portal using your agency admin or owner account.

Go to Messages > Chat.

Click on the gear icon in the upper left corner of the page.

Toggle “Enable Staff Direct Chat.”

Once enabled, staff who are connected to the same child will be able to chat directly with each other.
Step 2: Sending Direct Chats
Once the setting is enabled, staff can start chatting directly:

Open the Learning Genie app or the web portal.

Go to the Chat tab (Web Portal) or Messages tab (App).

Open any child’s group chat that includes the staff member you want to message.
Choose the staff member(s) you want to chat with. (Only staff connected to the same child will appear in the list.)In the app: Tap the “Group Members” icon in the upper-right corner.


In the web portal: Select the staff member from the participants list on the left side of the page.

Type your message and tap Send.
Tips for Using Staff Direct Chat

Keep messages professional, as they are tied to your agency account.

Remember that direct chat is only available when enabled by your agency owner or admin.
